- New flagship Dyson Stick VAC has been announced: V16 -Thple animal
- Can boast of dust compression, hands -free attachment and advanced automation functions
- There is also a submarine version with added mopping -hulvhoved
After three years of waiting, there is a new flagship Dyson Stick Vacuum in the city: Dyson V16 stamp. Dyson’s signature hi-tech blooms are present and correct, but I’m excited to see some simpler and maybe more really useful, ease of use here also-inclusive lots of features I predict that we see copycat versions of from rival brands in the coming year.
The V16 stamp animal could well be the best dyson vacuum based on specifications alone. It follows Dyson Gen5Detect (launched in 2022) in the flagship line, but in some ways it looks more like 2021’s Dyson V15. I had a chance to go handy with the new arrival at a recent event and I was impressed-I am in the process of testing it properly, so sit tight for a full review.
So what’s new? First up, the reason for the ‘stamp’ in the name: aboard dust compression via a ‘CleanCompactor’ bin. Push the red handle on the dust cup and you can squeeze the air out of everything that has been sucked up, which means you can fit far more in the trash and clean for a long time without having to take repeated trips to the trash.
The inside of the trash has been redesigned, so there are no columns for dust to get caught in, and the slider also dries down the inside of the house to remove the fine dust that has collected there – which I am told have benefit benefits as well as aesthetic.
Another practical ease of use is that the V16 stamp is designed so you can exchange attachments without having to bend down. Press down on the red cuff at the top of the rod to release the floor head, and then slot just a new one in place – the docking tube on the cleaning heads is at an angle that allows you to make this easy while standing upright.
In practice, this is a fine technique and works a treat. I hope this is something that other brands will start deciding to move forward.
Tangle Busters
About the topic of flooring heads the most important thing here looks pretty different from what we are all used to. Instead of a single brush roller, the V16 stamp has two cone-shaped rolls. This ‘all floor cones senses’ floor head is based on the existing hair screw tool, and as it is the connection it is intended to prevent hair from being tangled around the rollers. The idea is that the long hair is directed down to the small end of each cone where it is sucked up into the suction pipe.
During my hands-on time, I found that this worked well when I tackle hair laid out in front of the cleaner head, but tangled threads tended to get stuck in the gap behind the roll, which required manual craving. As a long-haired person, I am interested in seeing how well it works in a real environment (rather than demo-laboratory) -I will report back when I first had a chance to set this feature through its pace properly.
Incidentally, the hair screw tool has also had an upgrade to the new model. A rubber crab has been added to help remove hair from padding, so it is loose and ready to be sucked up.
There is no separate, hard floor -specific fluffy floor head here. Instead, Dyson has merged the two previous floor head designs to create something that seems to be as good on hard floors as on blanket. The All Floor cones Sense Floorhead have two rolls of brushes, cut a little short so they will agitate the fibers on a blanket but will not scratch a hard floor, plus a somewhat fluffy material designed to sweep hard flooring.
Dyson has also ported over the laser from the fluffy floor head. Here it is located in the middle of the head and low down at an angle, for even better dirt-ills. Closily you can activate an ‘auto’ state of the laser so that it only turns on when the vacuum senses it is on a hard surface or you can turn it off completely, for example if you have pets that do not respond well to lasers in the lounge.
If you only have hard floors, you may be better at choosing Dyson Pencilvac and its soft floor head anyway. Another new launch, Pencilvac is a light and lower driven vacuum aimed at use on hard floors.
Teeth
It almost goes without saying, but there has also been a power increase. The V16 stamp tops at 315AW compared to 262AW on Gen5Detect. Dyson has achieved this by turning the engine 180 degrees compared to previous models, which sounds modintuitive, but apparently works.
Many of the best wireless vacuum of the day offers a kind of automatic suction adjustment, but here is a particularly advanced version. Like Gen5Detect and V15 detect, the V16 can increase or lower the suction depending on how much dirt it detects, but it can also intelligently adjust the brush speed that fits the kind of floor it is on. So for blankets it uses a high flow speed and fast rolling speed, while the rolling speed of hard floors is lower because it is not necessary for effective dust collection.
In ECO and Auto mode, half of the cyclones turn off via a rubber muscle to expand filter lifetime. In boost mode, everything opens up to loosen maximum power.
I am glad to see that the said Power Boost is not accompanied by an increase in weight – my most important complaint with Gen5Detect is that it is just too heavy for a wireless stick -vacuum. The V16 stamp is actually lighter; It weighs the same as the V15 detection. In practice, it is still a bit heavy, but it is reassuring that things are moving in the right direction.
Like the V15 detection, the V16 also comes in a submarine version that bundles in a mopping floor head. While the submarine’s floor head has been fine-tuned a little compared to the one that accompanied V15S detection of submarine, it seems that our most important problems with the floor head (leaking dirty water room, too small water tanks) have not been treated, I will report back once I have had time to try it properly.
This is also Dyson’s first correct app-connected vacuum. The app provides more information and plenty of fine -tuning control options. It also has a feature that logs cleaning sessions and how long it was used for. However, Dyson has pain to point out that you can still use the V16 without the app if you want.
Price and accessibility
In the UK, the Dyson V16 stamp animal has a list price of £ 749.99, while the submarine version costs £ 899.99. Both can be purchased from today at dyson.co.uk.
I await confirmation of prices and launch dates in the US and Australia and update this article as soon as I hear more. In the UK, pricing is about the same as Gen5Detect – if it comes to other territories, you can expect it to cost around $ 950 / AU $ 1,550.
