- Doctor Who Season 2’s primary dynamics will differ wildly from last season’s partnership
- Doctor’s friendship with New Companion Bel won’t be the same as he enjoyed with Ruby
- Ncuti Gatwa and Verada Sethu have explained why things are not always rosy between their figures
Doctor Who‘s primary role crew has revealed how the latest companion of the titular character Bel differs from her predecessor Ruby on Sunday.
In a speech with Techradar, Ncuti Gatwa and Verada Sethu explained the doctor and Bel that the parets dynamics come to something of a full start in Disney+ Show’s second season.
Compared to the immediate harmonious relationship that Gatwas 15. Doctor enjoyed with Ruby-AS will return in some capacity this season-it is a frosty start to what will be a spicy marriage of convenience style friendship.
While the duo learns to become a “really strong team” as the series’ latest rate progresses, Bel’s deeply rooted sense also means that the titular hour Lord will have her hands full with her in Doctor Who Season 2. You know when he doesn’t have to do with all kinds of planetary and wider universal threats.
“Bel has such a strong feeling of myself and her own values,” Sethu told me. “I love that she already owns herself and has so much going on in her own life that she feels responsible for. As a nurse, she is a caring, selfless person, so she will return to being the person she was before she meets the doctor. She has no interest in floating around the room and time with this guy!”
“[In the 2023 Christmas special]Ruby didn’t think twice on jumping on the goblin shipping, “Gatwa interacted.” She would very willingly go on this adventure and be part of the doctor’s world.
“Bel was picked out of his own world and placed in his, so there is no interest from her side to follow in Ruby’s footsteps,” he continued. “So what is to be formed is a real partnership built on an inherent equality and maturity between the doctor and Bel. She understands the weight of responsibility, loss and the difficulties of life in general. But at the end of this season’s first episode, she is also aware that the doctor is a very dangerous man.”
She holds him in charge of a lot of things

“She holds him responsible for a lot of things,” Sethu added. “He is not surrounded by yes people whom he may have been before. Now he is traveling with someone who will say ‘no, it is definitely not okay’.
“But they are able to grow together because they are able to fill the gaps where the others fall short. They become a really strong team that has a great sense of confidence and platonic love that develops throughout the season.”
