- KM5 Lightwear HP1 costs $ 189 / £ 159 (around AU $ 331)
- The 1980s look but with Bluetooth 5.4 and active noise cancellation
- 24-hour battery life but two different parts to charge
Every time I feel nostalgic about the orange foam walkman headphones I used in the 1980s, I have to remind myself that they sounded absolutely terrible. But what if they returned and sounded good and also had active noise cancellation? That’s what the new KM5 Lightwear HP1 headphones are here to deliver.
The headphones work both wirelessly and in wired condition and come in only 103 g without cables. Unfortunately, they do not enter the 80s orange, but there are white and black models with swapped colored pillows.
KM5 Lightwear HP1 Headphones: Key Features and Pricing
The thin headband is made of stainless steel, and behind the pillows there are 40 mm drivers with a frequency response of 20Hz to 25 kHz.
Bluetooth is 5.4 with Bluetooth Le Audio, and the life of the battery is a promised 24 hours from a three -hour charge. The ANC has a transparency mode as well as normal cancellation.
However, there are two major disadvantages here. Earkups are not connected to each other and that means you have to charge with two cables. And for the cable listening, a USB-C cable will have more weight than the thin audio cables in old school boxes. I assume that the wired state sends the wired ear coup sound wireless to the other, although KM5 has not made it often clear.
They are definitely an interesting new addition to the world of the best noise -reducing headphones – a very different style than everything from Sony or Bose. It goes double as so few of the best headphones on earphones have ANC, so these give something really rarely.
HP1 Headphones are now available from KM5.CO.JP for £ 159 / $ 189 (about AU $ 331), making them a fairly fair price – now we just have to see if they are good, assuming that they (hopefully) will be widely available.
