- Limited edition track headphones in collaboration with brain death
- Even more limited edition Device-4 Wireless Studio Screens
- Headphones are $ 70 / £ 60; Speakers are $ 400 / £ 330
When you look at the picture above, you may think we have been thrown into a DeLorean and brought back to a Sci-Fi-theme 80s club. But these headphones are as modern as headphones get.
The headphones are a new version with a limited version of Aiaiai’s track headphones made in collaboration with Creative Fashion Brand Brain Dead – A Fast Aiaiai has worked with earlier, with their collaboration sold out in minutes. And there is a matching speaker, a “very limited version” of AIAIAi Unit-4 Studio Monitor.
What does this creative collaboration deliver?
As with a lot of brand X-Brand team-ups, these are existing products that get a makeover. And that’s no bad thing. While the traces of headphones may look like the orange-felt slaughter that followed with early 80s Walkman Kassett players, they don’t sound like them: Their 40mm drivers have been praised for their surprisingly bold bass.
It’s the same story with Unit-4, which has been praised by audio experts: They are excellent near-field studio screens whose low-layer wireless capacity gets them to make them also low-layer DJ headphones).
The collaboration was intended to “highlight the rich music culture in Los Angeles”, and the launch event over the past weekend gave all its revenue for California four findings. There is also a compilation tape for people further afield to contribute to the cause.
Brain-dead versions of the tracks headphones and device-4 speakers will be available from AIAIAI, brain dead and selected retailers from January 28. The tracks are $ 70 / £ 60 / around AU $ 111 and Device-4 is $ 400 / $ 330 / around AU $ 635.
