- Four colors: black, orange, gray and pink
- No H2 chip upgrade and no sign of monitoring heart rhythm
- IPX4, up to 30 hours of battery
Today’s big headphone news is, of course, the expected launch of AirPods Pro 3, but a few earplugs from Apple’s second headphone brand leaked straight: Powerbeats fit.
The noticed Leaker EV Blass has published some specifications and lots of marketing images showing ANC buds in all four color settings: Spark Orange, Gravel Gray, Jet Black and Power Pink.
Specen is impressive, but there is a product on our wish list that has not yet been confirmed, so we keep our fitness fingers crossed.
Powerbeats Fit: What we know so far
According to the leaked information, the pitch here is that the Powerbeats Passing is “High-performance earplugs for training, with universal secure-fit wingtips” so they don’t fall out when you exercise.
The processor is Apple’s H1 chip and it delivers active noise cancellation with transparency state, adaptive EQ and personal spatial sound.
The buds are classified IPX4 for sweat and water resistance, they come in four ear tip sizes, and the life of the battery is up to 7 hours per day. Knob and 30 hours with the charging case.
We hoped to see H2 -CHIP PLUS improved water and sweat resistance over Beats Fit Pro – ideally IPX7, but the IPX5 would also be an improvement – so H1/IPX4 combination is disappointing. But the new buds deliver one of our wishes: Longer playing time than Beats Fit Pro via the charging case.
The one feature we really hoped to see has not been included in the leaked spec: heartbeat monitoring. Having the same tracking as in Powerbeats Pro 2, but in a smaller, lighter and more modern-looking design would be a big win, but yet there is no evidence that the Powerbeats Passing will be able to track your heart. Here hopes it has just been left behind the leaked spec instead of turning off the buds themselves.
