- The adorable Star Wars BDX -Droids have landed in Disney World
- The set of droids will be in Florida until 30 August 2025
- Disney swapped components on the drroids to let them better resist weather conditions including higher heating environments
For Star Wars and Disney Park’s faithful, another happy landing has happened. The equally sweet and impressive BDX droids have arrived at Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. This means that you may not have to travel as far as once required to see the droids you have been looking for.
Disney first teased that the BDX reds would expand beyond just performing at Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland in California back on SXSW 2025 under Disney Experience ‘”The Future of World-Building on Disney” panel. Disney World was then confirmed along with Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney Resort, but the BDX drroids began to perform today, July 16, 2025, in Florida.
Disney has confirmed that the BDX drroids will be in Disney World through 30 August 2025 and will perform seven times a day, Tuesday to Saturday. You will see them on these days at. 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00.
Moritz Bächer, the associated laboratory director of Disney’s Zurich-based robotics team, also known as the man behind The Droids, spoke to bring these daring robots to several parks, and therefore were different climates.
The BDX reds have now painted components instead of 3D-printed parts to withstand the hot Florida heat better. For example, it is a high of 91 degrees Fahrenheit in Orlando today with over 60% humidity. With advanced modeling, Bächer and the team at Disney Imagineering worked to teach the BDX drroids to go on different terrain and other movements, and this probably lets the Disney Live Entertainment program new experiences for the robots.

As you might suspect, lucky ParkGoers at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World were pretty stick to look BDX Dropids out and around, some even went to social media. We also learned what happens if they encounter the rain-BDX droids are covered by what looks like plastic, rain-resistant bags. You can see it in the clip below.
It is worth trying to catch one of the show as the BDX droids are still a relatively rare sight since they began to appear at the end of 2023 at Disneyland. However, Disney Imagineering continues to push the boundaries of the robotics area and ultimately use technology to build more immersive stories and experiences.
The arrival of the BDX drroids at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World comes a day before the brand new Walt Disney Animatronic opens to the public in ‘Walt Disney – a magical life’ at Disneyland in California, and you can see our preview of this attraction – and Animatronic – here.
