- GE -profile Smart Grind & Brew is a drip coffee maker with an AI assistant
- The assistant can adjust brewing settings based on the questions you ask
- It is available to buy now from Amazon for $ 379 (about £ 300 / AU $ 600)
How smart can a filter coffee machine really be? Very smart it turns out. GE -PROFILE (Premium Division of GEAs) has just launched Smart Grind & Brew -a drip machine using Google Cloud AI to help you brew the perfect cup every morning.
The GE profile Smart Grind & Brew is a slim machine with a built-in conical burr grinding machine, which means you can enjoy fresh-earth coffee without investing in (and finding space for) two appliances. It also potentially minimizes root because the soil coffee falls directly into the brewery basket at the right dosage without weighing or transfer.
The machine also has a built -in water filter so you can use water directly from the tap without affecting the taste of your drink and helping you get a more consistent taste.
Another particularly nice feature is the inclusion of a removable brewing tooth (the part that holds the jug or cup) so that the machine can dispense coffee directly to a travel mug. Combined with the built-in timer, this would make it easy to have a fresh filter coffee to go to work, minimizing the risk of tempting and buying a takeaway coffee along the way.
However, what really makes Smart Grind & Brew different from the best drip coffee machines we have tested is the SmartHQ AI coffee assistant to be rolled out to the machine with a software update very soon.
This allows you to control the machine externally using the SmartHQ Smart Home app and have a “conversation AI experience” with the assistant. It also allows you to create custom profiles, receive real-time brewery feedback and “is equipped with intuitive learning that automatically adjusts brewing based on questions asked.”
Smarthq will also let you add your coffee maker to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home Smart Hub so you can operate it with voice control.
So far, so smart
It all sounds very impressive, and the GE profile Smart Grind & Brew is available to buy now from Amazon for $ 379 (about £ 300 / AU $ 600), which seems to be typical of a connected drip coffee maker.
Is there a catch? Although it has an isolated carafe, the GE profile does not mention the machine that has a hob to keep your brewed coffee warm until you are ready for your next cup. It’s the same problem I found with another high -tech dripping machine that I recently tested: The colleague Aiden Precision Drip coffee machine. Although Aiden could brew an excellent drink, its double wall insulated carafe just didn’t warm it not warm long without a heat source below.
Hopefully, it won’t be so much of a problem with Smart Grind & Brew, which (unlike Aiden) is able to deliver coffee to other vessels, such as an insulated bottle, which will keep it at a drinkable temperature longer.
