- LOUNDUP BATTERIDRIVED BLUETOOTH APPLICATION LEANS AT KICKSTARTER
- 100W mono class d -amplification, and two can work in a few
- 40 hours playback on battery, 1 kg (2.2 lbs) weight
What is more practical than taking one of the best Bluetooth speakers to the beach? To take some heavy analog speakers, speaker thread and a battery -powered amplifier to the beach. Is …
It’s not the best pitch I have ever beaten, I admit. But Soundup -Bearing amplifier is a smart little thing, albeit one with a very specific niche. It is designed to take passive stereo speakers, turn them on and add Bluetooth streaming to them, and all without requiring an outlet.
Of course, this is not the first device that streams to analog speakers: Like Bluesound, Elipson and Wiim have made compact Bluetooth and Wi-Fi AMPS that will gladly bring streaming sound to passive speakers.
But as far as I know, this is the first battery-powered Bluetooth option, and it is also significantly more affordable than more advanced amplifiers. Where the Do-Alt Bluesound Powerernode Edge is $ 749 / £ 599, the soundup is simpler and on Kickstarter with an early bird price of $ 159 (approximately £ 118 / AU $ 240 before tax and shipping).
SOUNDUP PORTABLE BLUETOOTH AMP: Key features
Loundup is a more modest device than Bluesound’s One, so you don’t get features like Apple AirPlay. But you get Bluetooth 5.1 and a Wired Aux input that goes into 100W Class D amplification, which is pretty impressive.
However, this output in Mono – you can pair two soundups for stereo, which is still not a bad price. If you run it on battery, the lift is up to 40 hours playing time (I assume this will fall a bunch if you try to run a multi-driver floor stand), though it can also run on Wired Power over USB-C.
Loundup supports speakers with impedance of 3 to 8 ohms, and topped at 100W in 3 ohms and “closer to 90W top with 4-8Ω”.
Sales Course Here is that Lydup allows you to take advantage of old speakers, speakers that “were advanced in their day, built with real wood, quality drivers and tuned acoustics that cheap modern bluetooth boxes cannot match. Today you can pick them up for a fraction of their price.”
And that’s all true: There are some really lovely speakers going for a song in places like Facebook Marketplace. Although I would not say that most of them are especially Portable, especially those with real wood and tuned acoustics, so when you go with 1 kg (35 oz) soundup, there is a lot to beat around.
As much as I love the amplifier at the amplifier, I will not order one for me, although maybe some people will love the idea that their speaker placement is free of tyranny of socket placement.
Still, Kickstarter has collected a lot more money than its original financing target, so it is clear that there is demand for this rather unusual amplifier. You can find out more here on the official kickstarter page.
