- More details of Openai’s hardware plans are leaked
- There may be more AI units on the way
- The first launch could happen at the end of next year
We know that Chatgpt -developing Openai is working on hardware devices that allow us to carry around in an AI chatbot with us at all times, and a new report sheds light on the kind of gadgets we can expect to see.
The report comes from the information, indicating that smart glasses, a digital voice recorder, a laptop and a smart speaker without display everyone on the drawing board to some extent – although they may not all have been fully developed.
Also included in the report are some details of Hardware Partners Openai working with, and some of them – including Luxshare and Goertek – are companies that Apple has also worked with to develop gadgets.
Perhaps it is no surprise considering Jony Ive with the Openai projects that was Apple’s design manager for many years. According to the sources that speak to the information, a number of product conductors have also moved from Apple to Openai.
Coming next year … maybe
As for when we might see these gadgets, the goal of a launch is apparently late 2026 or early 2027, so there’s still a while to wait yet. It seems that a single device is first being launched where the others potentially follow over time.
All of these new details are ringing with what we have heard of Openai’s hardware plans in the past. It seems that the idea is to design something that complements our existing phones, tablets and laptops instead of replacing them.
We have already heard of an always laptop of some description that would be available to answer questions in the usual chatgpt style, as well as-to-mayor-register voice memos and conversations for future analysis.
However, AI gadgets along these lines that we have seen before have not been a huge success: Consider Rabbit R1 and Human AI -Pin, for example. The Openai team hopes they can do better.
