- Leaked image shows a rounded square design and a large lens
- Tip for a wireless charging dock but no modular design
- Suggests that insta360 soon releases its next action camera
Insta360’s next action camera model may have just appeared. And if the leaked image is accurate, the camera manufacturer could plan a serious design shake.
The jerk of being go 4, the new camera does not look like an obvious successor of the Go 3s, which we consider as the best modular action camera. In fact, it doesn’t look like any Insta360 camera I’ve used before.
Shared by @quadro_News – a normal reliable source – the leaked photo shows a miniature camera with a rounded square design and a large lens that dominates a corner.
Of crucial importance, the product depicted in the leak consists of a single device. Unlike the GO 3s, there is no obvious separation between camera and screen block.
I’ve used both Insta360 GO 3 and GO 3S. What impressed me about them was their modular design. Each one is a small thumb-size camera that you can carry magnetic or slot into the action pod, for proper gopro-style frame with the flip-up screen. They are an effective hybrid solution for creators that shoot first -person content: light and discreet as standard with the possibility of deeper control when needed.
But with this new design it seems that the Insta360 is heading in a different direction. One without an action pod.
There is a long way, there is not much information about the new camera360. This only … pic.twitter.com/fpinrohnskJune 15, 2025
No more modular?
A closer examination of the leak reveals details that raise additional questions. There is a visible indicator light plus what looks like a front -facing sound grid. There is also a smaller circle which can be another light or possibly a sensor. A diagram that is added to the hints of the image to capacitive touch check in front of the device.
Interestingly, the camera is held in the picture over what seems to be a dock. There is speculation that this may be a wireless charging station, although it is a consumer accessory or a development rig is not ready.
What we can’t see anywhere is the back of the camera. It raises a bigger question: Is there a screen at all?
There is a world where the Insta360 could develop an all-in-one camera that stripes things back even further than the Go 3s. It may sound like a step in the wrong direction, but there is logic here. The Insta360 GO series is about lightweight, portable cameras for social creators. If this new model keeps things ultra-laptop while improving sound, touch control and battery life, it can offer a more streamlined, potentially more affordable solution.
It could well appeal to POV creators who rarely use the screen block and are happy to rely on the smartphone app connection for framing or editing after the fact. It is also worth noting that the action pod that was delivered with previous versions was not waterproof. By using an integrated design, the Insta360 could be to favor durability and portability rather than total control.
Another factor that plays here is DJI Osmo Nano, in itself a dinky, modular camera that is targeting the same audience. The jerk of a July launch looks like the device is picking up where Osmo Action 2 slack, with a small camera device that is fastened magnetic to clothing and can mate with an optional screen module. The potential twist is that DJI seems to embrace modularity, just as the Insta360 may be phased out.
However, do not count the Insta360 out yet. It is possible that this new design is part of an alternative line completely – not go 4, but another portable camera aimed at filling a new niche. Or it can be a prototype of Go 4 that simply does not show the modular elements. Until we see the full picture, we do not know if the action pod is in or out.
Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if an official launch is imminent. The leak shows a device that looks pretty far together in the development process. And with the GO 3s launched back in June 2023, it’s about being due to an update considering the Insta360’s recent productive. If DJI Osmo Nano hits the shelves in July with DJI’s first ever 360 camera ever, you can expect the Insta360 to respond quickly.
Until then, all we can do is speculate. But one thing is clear: Both DJI and Insta360 are in the fight for the laptop crown. See this space.
