- Xiaomi tv Stick 4K (2. Gen) comes soon
- Faster CPU/GPU runs Google TV instead of Android TV
- HDR10+ AND DTS: X as well as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos
Xiaomis Google TV -streaming -stick has been updated with some significant improvements. While the underlying hardware has not changed dramatically beyond a new CPU – RAM and storage is the same 2 GB and 8 GB as before – there are some important audio and video improvements.
The new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd gen) has a new chipset built around the AA Quad-Core Cortex-A55 CPU and Mali-G310 GPU, as Xiaomi says 80% better CPU performance and a 150% boost to graphics performance compared to the first generation of the 4K streamer. Wi-Fi is faster and there is also improved HDR and sound support.
Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2. Gen): Key Functions and Pricing
One of the most significant changes is that Xiaomi has swapped oozes: where the original TV -stick run on Android TV has this Google TV. This means a more modern look, streamlined interface and better recommendations across the different streaming services you are using.
The new second generation of TV-Stick now supports HDR10+ as well as the previous model Dolby Vision. And there has been a similar sound upgrade with the addition of DTS: X Support along with the existing Dolby Atmos support.
Wi-Fi is now Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth is the same 5.2 as before. And the remote control has been easily redesigned with a new button for Xiaomi’s own free live -TV service.
What we don’t know yet is what it will cost when it is officially launched or when it will be. Android Authority has seen it on AliExpress, where it is offered with an alleged discount of $ 86 that falls the price to about $ 49 (about £ 36 ex VAT).
The first generation TV Stick 4K is currently $ 56.99 on Amazon US and £ 49.99 on Amazon UK.
