- A new code line is found in the Heymelody app suggesting that the Spotify Tap feature could come to Oppo and OnePlus earplugs
- Android Authority managed to activate the feature but it has more backlash
- We do not know when it could be released or which OnePlus and Oppo Audio accessories will be compatible with Spotify Tap
OnePlus and Oppo are solid audio brands if you are after a decent pair of mid-range earplugs, and now they could get a new practical Spotify integration, which can be a great comfort upgrade for Android users.
A new Android Authority Dearing of the Heymelody app highlights that the Spotify TAP feature is supported on most Sony, Bose and Jabra audio devices could come to OnePlus and Oppo earbuds. For those of you who do not realize, Heymelody is the original app for setting up OnePlus and Oppo Audio Tech, similar to Sony’s Sound Connect app.
But what is Spotify Tap? It is essentially a convenience feature that allows you to play music directly from Spotify with double or triple-tapping compatible audio accessories such as the brand new Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones. If you are already the owner of the best headphones and both best earplugs, you will be more than familiar with this feature.
As for Android Authority’s finding, outlet dip into the Heymelody app V115.8 and found a code related to a possible new integration with OnePlus and Oppo earbuds and even managed to activate the feature.
For starters, the demolition shows two different settings (double and triple tap) to Spotify music playback in each earplug. Outlet also says you can repeat this gesture so Spotify plays you a recommended song, but there were a few setbacks.
While Android Authority was able to activate Spotify Tap, the outlets noted that changes to background settings were required to get the options of displaying, adding that you may only set this feature to one earplane at a time and not both. However, this is likely to change if Spotify Tap ever is rolled out to OnePlus and Oppo earplugs, it added.
As it says, the demolition does not indicate explicitly when this feature can be rolled out or which OnePlus and Oppo earplugs will receive the Spotify Tap treatment if it does. According to Android Authority, it would not be surprising if Spotify Tap is only available for selected upcoming hardware.
In this case, we take this lightly and wait to see what other finds will emerge – but we will definitely have our ears to the ground in the meantime.
