This year’s Emmy Noms -Chok as Emma Stones ‘The Course’ gets the ultimate snub

London:

The 76. Primetime Emmy nominations fell Wednesday, and although there is a lot to cheer on, some of the choices are simply head-scratching. Let’s first give a standing ovation to Abbott Elementarythe brilliantly relevant comedy within a field of overcooked sitcoms. And Hallelujah, The gilded age Finally, it got the nod, it deserves. It is as the Academy just discovered that this brilliant period drama exists. As for The Morning ExhibitionIt seems that Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon could film themselves to read the contents of a menu and they would still be nominated. Must be nice to have that kind of job security.

If you think, “Wait we didn’t already do this in 2024?” You don’t lose your mind; You would actually be right. The 75th Primetime Emmys were sent in January, a delayed ceremony pushed back from September 2023 of last year’s double actors and authors’ strikes. Displays sent between June 2023 and May 2024 are ready for the gold this time and the winners will be announced on September 16.

Now let’s talk about the 2024 nominations. There were snubs, surprises and moments that made me want to throw confetti. The biggest “Finally!” Of all according to fans? Selena Gomez, who spent two seasons watching her Only murder in the building Co -stars Steve Martin and Martin Short Rake in nominations while she got Zilch. This year she is ready for the best comedy actress, and fans are pleased after two years of complaint. Many say that her Costar’s clumsy acting would be nothing without her monotonous one-liners. However, I disagree. To Me to see Gomez’s spectacle corresponds to an inconvenient papercut. It’s annoying, but I have to power through the rest of my day.

Gomez’s nomination is part of a historical category of best comedy actor, dominated for the first time by Women of Color. Alongside her we have Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph and Quinta Brunson, of whom everyone would be a much more deserved winner. Seriously, I had campaign for themselves if I had time or inclination. Lily Gladstone and Kali Reis to Under the bridge and Real Detective: Natland were also nominations that were a long time when they became the first indigenous people to ever be nominated in the actress’s category.

Let’s move on to snubs, are we going to? The curse were brilliantly weird and creepy. Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone were spectacularly disturbing as a picture perfect pair with a dark VRI. Stone’s performance was so good that it deserved at least a nomination, but unfortunately her Egot dreams were crushed. Fans were furious that this show received the ultimate snub. “The closure of The curse is shocking and unforgivable. It blew every other show out of the water, ”wrote a fan. Another commented, “Emma Stone was incredible.”

Then there is The gentlemenA spinoff of Guy Ritchie’s film that delivered action and laughs in the same goal. A man dancing in a chicken suit shouldn’t be fun, but this show spiked it. Still, it’s nowhere to see in the nominations. A Travesty, I tell you.

Now for the overrated nominees. Mr. And Mrs. Smith Was like watching paint dry, another argument about why some things shouldn’t deserve remake. And don’t let me start with Palm Royale It scored 11 nominations, including one for Christian Wiig. This show was a screaming mess from the 1960s flair and intricate plot. This nomination lot could have gone to so many better comedies, but here we are.

As for who I am cheering for it would be someone and everything to do with The bear. Known for their pure sweeps at award exhibitions, The bear is nominated in any comedic category that is. Although I will never understand why it is classified as a comedy, the show is an anxiety -inducing, teeth that are sanded nightmares that keep you at the edge of your seat. But whatever they choose to call themselves, I accept it as long as they keep the seasons rolling.
