A four -year -old boy was killed in a traffic accident Saturday after being hit by a water tanker in Karachis Baldia Town, police and rescue officials confirmed.
The incident took place near Abidabad, where the child, who was identified as Affan, son of Jasim, reportedly played and tried to cross the road when he was hit, reported Express News.
Rescue teams rushed to the stage and moved the boy’s body to Civil Hospital Karachi. Police said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident and track the vehicle.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the tanker driver has been taken into custody.
Earlier this week, furious mob at least nine heavy vehicles on the night between Wednesday and Thursday set after a dumping hit a cyclist and the driver tried to escape.
Police later arrested over a dozen people identified using CCTV and video footage.
The police high-ups also warned the tank owner leader who had arrived at the scene of a faked vehicle with heavily armed men who challenged the fire pins.
Although the situation in the central and eastern districts is under control of mainstream political and religious parties that encourage people to comply with the law, remorse is rising high in many sensitive areas.
According to statistics from the Chhipa Foundation, 80 lives have been lost in traffic accidents in just 99 days this year. Among the victims, 18 were killed by dump cars, 31 of trailers, 17 of water tankers, five of Mazda trucks and nine at speed buses.
These statistics not only represent numbers, but broken families – each mourns over the loss of a loved one.
