- Over 12,000 Bella Pro Series and Cook’s coffee machines have been remembered
- More users reported damage after their machines failed at high pressure
- Owners need to stop using the machines instantly and request a refund
Thousands of espresso machines have been revoked after 18 people reported that a component was “heavily exposed” during use. Of them received eight burns or lacerations as a result.
The affected machines are no longer for sale, but several owners wrote reviews to warn potential customers about the risks before the voluntary recall. Some even included pictures of broken coffee machines in their kitchens.
“The machine blasted the very first time used,” an owner wrote. “Glass and metal flew all over the kitchen. I got milk from the fridge and that’s why I wasn’t injured.”
“This product is dangerous,” said another. “It explodes during brewing. The porta filter literally detached from the machine during the brewery cycle. I have severe burns [due] to […] The defect on this machine. Don’t buy this machine. It’s dangerous. “
“The machine blasted”
The problem affects two coffee machines: Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Maker and Cooks Steam Espresso Maker. The machines were imported by Sensio Inc. in New York, and 12,300 were sold at JC Penney and Best Buy – in stores and online – between August 2023 and January 2025.
All the recalled machines are made of black plastic with stainless steel trim and have either the “Bella Pro series” or “Cooks” on the front. Turn your machine and you need to see a sticker that carries the model number. If this is 90195 or 22395, stop using it immediately in accordance with the guidance of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
To request a refund, you can contact Sensio for free on 855-647-3125 between 7 p.m. 8 and 17 a Monday to Friday or visit Bella Kitchenware’s Website. You will need to damage the UL certification number under the machine, cut its cord and give photos as evidence that you have done it useless.
