Individuals admit to luring others via social media with offers of money to access sensitive information
Three Indian spies were convicted under the Official Secrets Act after being arrested by security forces for their involvement in India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
Security agencies in an effective intelligence based operation had arrested three persons allegedly involved in espionage activities for RAW. According to Associated Press of Pakistanbelonging to the accused Narowal, Bahawalpur and District Neelum in Azad Kashmir.
The arrested persons confessed that they were lured through certain social media platforms with offers of money and relationships with women in exchange for access to sensitive information.
Payments were allegedly made to the suspects through Easypaisa, cryptocurrency wallets and bank accounts.
During the investigation, the suspects admitted to being in constant contact with people, including women, believed to be associated with RAW through social media channels.
Sources further stated that cases were registered against the accused under the Official Secrets Act. After trials, the courts handed down judgments.
Last year in November, a Pakistani fisherman, allegedly recruited by Indian intelligence to carry out espionage activities in the country, was arrested.
Information Minister Atta Tarar said in a statement that a Pakistani fisherman named Ejaz Mallah was apprehended by Pakistani law enforcement after being forced by Indian intelligence to work for them.
In October 2025, an Indian national, Usman, was also sentenced to 20 years in prison in Pakistan on charges of espionage and terrorism. Usman had been under surveillance for months before his arrest. Intelligence reports indicated his involvement in espionage and terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing the province.
This conviction came in the wake of earlier incidents of Indian espionage in Pakistan. In March 2016, Pakistani intelligence agencies arrested Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, marking a major milestone in the fight against terrorism and exposing India’s deep-rooted involvement in state-sponsored subversion.
Jadhav, an official of India’s intelligence agency RAW, was apprehended in Balochistan while actively planning terrorist operations. It was the first instance of a serving intelligence officer from one country being captured in another for orchestrating terrorist activities.
