Quetta:
A deadly attack targeted a passenger trainer who traveled from Karachi to Quetta near Niemurgh Cross in the Kalat district, Balochistan, which left at least three passengers died and seven wounded, according to local police sources.
The confirmation of the incident, Balochistan -Government spokesman Shahid Rind said the wounded had been moved to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Kalat. He also confirmed that security forces reached the scene shortly after receiving reports of the attack and securing the area.
“The wounded are provided medical assistance at DHQ Kalat. Security staff are present on the spot and investigations are underway,” Rind said in a statement.
The attack took place when unidentified armed men opened direct fire on the moving coach. Police and rescue teams immediately responded, transported victims to the hospital and launched search operations in the surrounding area.
While the motive behind the assault remains unclear, the authorities have launched a full investigation. Events of violence along the Karachi highway – Quetta continues to cause concern about passenger security, especially in Balochistan’s sensitive districts.
