Three large Pakistani airports to get e-port

Karachi:

Pakistan Airports Authority (on) has decided to install e-Gates in all three major airports in the country-Karachi Airport, Lahore Airport and Islamabad Airport.

The e-ports to be installed at the international arrival and departure rooms at airports will simplify and accelerate the immigration process, and international commuters no longer have to wait in long queues.

E-Gates will also use artificial intelligence (AI) for documentation and biometric identification of passengers and the project, including installing about 100 such gates, will be completed in 2 years.

According to on-officials, German experts have completed the basic design for e-ports. During their visit to Pakistan, they also completed a three-day workshop in Karachi. Also held consultations with other stakeholders, including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

They said the project reflects an obligation to deliver modern, advanced facilities and are part of the efforts to bring Pakistan’s airports to international standards.

The project aims to provide a secure, scalable and technology -driven solution to major airports in Pakistan. According to the agreement, the consultants appear satisfactorily.

Additional director of engineering services Adnan Ahmed told The Express Pakinomist that a globally known German company M2P was elected to the E-Gates project, which began last September.

As part of the process, a German expert team visited Pakistan, and after extensive consultations in Karachi, the basic design for the project completed. During their three-day workshop, it was explained that e-Gates are self-service systems that automate the immigration process.

This improves the travel experience for passengers by saving time and reducing the hassle. One of the most important benefits is that passengers do not have to interact directly with immigration staff. The system will be useful for both passengers and border managers and will also introduce improvements in security.
