Lodhran:
Three suspected armed robbers were killed, allegedly by the shot of their accomplices, during a meeting in the evening with the Crime Control Department (CCD) near Jallah Araain in Lodhran.
According to a CCD spokesman, a patrol team was stationed near Pul Behishti on Multan, Lodhran Road, as five unidentified men on two motorcycles approached from Multan’s direction under suspicious circumstances.
When they were signaled to stop for routine control, the suspects allegedly broke through the checkpoint and fled against the government forest area.
The CCD team pursued them, after which the suspects allegedly took cover behind trees and opened fire against police.
In response, the CCD officer returned fire while taking cover behind trees and irrigation channels.
Police claim that they repeatedly warned the suspects to surrender, but the suspects continued to shoot as they were moving around each other.
When the firing ceased, the police searched the area with the help of torches and found three suspects severely injured.
Upon inspection, all three were found dead, reportedly shot by their own accomplices during the intersection. Near the bodies, police regained two 30-bear guns, a rifle and a motorcycle.
The deceased remains unidentified and the bodies have been sent to a hospital for examination after Mortem. Officials said there is an effort to confirm their identity.
CCD sources suggest that the suspects were reportedly involved in the recent bank robbery attempts and armed assaults in Karachi, Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan. The group was also suspected of shooting a boy during a robbery in Jallah Arain and shooting at a vehicle during a failed bank robbery attempt in Dunyapur last week.
