Police and a local militia neutralized three alleged terrorists during a “search and strike” operation performed in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Saturday. Several terrorists also sustained injuries during surgery.
According to a statement issued to the press on Sunday by the KP Inspector General Police (IGP) Office, the local police swung to action after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the Tajwari area of the district.
It said the local police, quotas from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) as well as the special rapid response force started a search operation in which members of an “AMAN committee” and residents in the area also participated.
“During the operation [and their local supporters] Had a meeting with 20 to 25 terrorists at. 10:45 in the forest of Khankhel Manderzai, who falls within the police station’s jurisdiction Tajwari and Bargai.
“In the subsequent firefighter, where heavy weapons were used by both sides, and continued for about 2 hours, police sent, who fought bravely, three terrorists to hell without maintaining any loss. A number of terrorists also received injuries, and they later fled.”
The statement said a search operation continued to pursue the terrorists.
According to Lakki Marwat’s District Police Officer (DPO), Jawwad Ishaq, who led the operation, demonstrated the people of the area unique courage and patriotism by standing shoulder to shoulder with their police, thereby increasing their morals.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed praised the courage and bravery of the Lakki Marwat police and advertised cash rewards and rose certificates for the staff involved in the operation.
