- Over 200 power feed trips like heavy rain sweeping Karachi.

Karachi: A strong thunderstorm brought both breather from the heat and the disturbance to daily life over Karachi late on Thursday, when more than 200 feeds of power stumbled and threw large parts of the city in the dark.
According to reports, several areas of the port city, including Surjani Town, Malir, North Karachi, II Chunrigar Road, Guldan-E-Haded and Gadap, witnessed heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder. Rain also sourced Clifton, Defense, Scheme 33, North Nazimabad, Model Colony, Safoora, Korangi, Landhi and Saadi Town.
In the wake of the short heavy rainfall, the residents of many parts of the megacity were left without electricity.
Spokesman for the city’s power provider, K-Electric, confirmed feeding tours in the Gulhan-E-Maymar, Surjani, Nazimabad and Gulhan-e-Iqbal, leading to power cuts in New Karachi, Jamshed City, the old urban area and surrounding sites.
Maripur, Lyari, Keamari, Hawks Bay and Quaidabad were, among other areas, also affected by power cuts. Meanwhile, the power supply was also suspended in PIB colony, pechs and parts of Korangi.
Precautions that are turning off
A spokesman for K-electric stated that electricity had been dismissed in the low-lying areas as a safety measure. The restoration work was started as soon as the rain stopped, the spokesman noted.
Electricity supply has been restored to key areas such as Allama Iqbal Road, Tariq Road, Clifton blocks 1, 2 and 6, as well as to Punjab Colony, Delhi Colony, Sindhi Muslim Society, Nazimabad, Nishtar Colony, Jahangir Road and parts of Liaquatabad and the C-1 area.
The power tool also confirmed that the supply had been restored in Ameenabad, Nusrat Bhutto Road and the Marble Industry area.
While the power supply in the defense phase 1 was disturbed at 1 p.m. 23, it has since been restored, according to the residents.
Meanwhile, residents of Clifton Block 5 and Yaseenabad reported in the Gullhan-E-Shameem renewed power breaks.
Currently, uninterrupted power is delivered through 1,750 of the city’s 2,100 feed, stressed KE and added that the power supply has been restored in Sulshan-e-Mayar sectors S and T, Gullhan-E-HADEED PHASE 2, PCSIR and KARACHI University Society.
Meanwhile, residents Pakinomist News told the power supply had been suspended in the Garden West Fawara Chowk since midnight.
Mayor Wahab inspects the water situation
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab began field visits shortly after the rain stopped. He was accompanied by the municipal Commissioner Afzal Zaidi. They visited several areas, including Defense’s Khayaban-e-Hilal, Clifton, South District and the surrounding areas.
The mayor also visited the Governor House, Sindh Assembly, Supreme Court Building and Karachi Press Club as well as Chief Minister’s House. During his visit he reviewed events after rain. The municipal commissioner informed him that the drainage work was underway.
In one step to ensure that Wahab was around the clock, Wahab instructed that municipal staff remain on high alarm and have their leaves suspended.
The Commissioner confirmed that suction pumps and staff had been deployed in the city’s low -lying sites.
Provincial Minister issues emergency instructions
Meanwhile, the Sindh Minister for Rehabilitation and President of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Makhdoom Mehboob-Uz-Zaman, PDMA officials to closely monitor the rain situation throughout the province.
He instructed Rescue 1122 teams to respond immediately to emergencies and avoid causing disadvantages to the public.
The Minister emphasized the need to provide maximum relief and facilities to affected citizens.
