Tiger Woods is ready to leave indelible mark on Augusta in front of Masters

Tiger Woods will always be part of Masters Lore.

The legendary athlete has won the big five times, including in 2019, when he shocked the world with his 15th large golf title. Whether he ever wins another major is still ready for discussion, but Woods’ field in Augusta, Georgia, will go beyond everything he did on the course.

Woods designs a nine-hole, par-3 course on a renovated municipal course that for almost 100 years had been an affordable alternative for golfers seeking to enter the private Augusta National. The renovation is financed by Augusta National Golf Club.

Woods’ Foundation will also build an Education Center for Local Public Students.

“We also recognize the importance of elaborating on Tiger’s heritage in Augusta and with the masters, and this we felt we were a lasting way that we could forever be associated with Tiger and all he has done with Masters, and now said everything he wants to do in this community,” said Augusta National President Fred Riley.

Augusta Municipal Golf Course is known as the patch, named after vegetable gardens that were once near the property. It closed at the end of December for a 15-month renovation project.

The par-3 course will be known as Loop by the patch in honor of Augusta National Caddies, who gathered there to play golf.

“It’s an important day for all of us at the TGR Foundation to be able to have this moment, be able to do this with Augusta,” Woods said in pre -raised comments Monday, “and to do something in a place that has meant so much to me in my lifetime.”

Riley promised to keep the prices of the municipal course affordable.

“I can promise you that the word ‘affordable prices’ will continue to be the guard. We realized that this is an asset to society and everyone in society,” he said.
