“I was planning to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready,” Woods said in a statement. “I did my best to prepare, knowing that it was what my mother would have wanted, but I still treat her loss.

“Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later this week and appreciate the continued kindness since my mother’s passing.”

Woods golfed with President Donald Trump on Sunday before the commander started for New Orleans to join the Super Bowl Lix, according to a White House official.

Trump sent his condolance to Woods and his family after the golfer announced his mother’s death.

“I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful mother, Kuldida, died – she has gone into green fairways!” Trump wrote in a post. “Kuldida Woods was a great influence on Tiger and gave him a lot of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family!”

Woods’ Foundation arranges Genesis Invitational. The event has not cut line. If he participated, it would have been his first tournament since he had a microdisectomy in September to relieve pain in his legs.

The event will take place at Torrey Pines this season instead of Riviera because of the fires that plagued the Los Angeles area in January.
