Islamabad:
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi on Thursday observed that timely and effective justice is not only a constitutional mandate but also a moral responsibility.
Chief Justice was chairman of the sixth interactive progress review by the Supreme Court in Pakistan. The session gathered senior officials, stakeholders and officers in the Supreme Court to assess monthly progress under the Reform Action Plan (RAP) and provide strategic guidance on pending initiatives and upcoming milestones.
The meeting attended the Supreme Court of Justice’s Supreme Court, it advises Hamayun Zafar, Section Head of the Supreme Court, the Senior Director of the Federal Judicial Academy and the secretary of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP).
During the considerations, Chief Justice was informed of the significant progress made in the court’s reform agenda. Out of 89 identified initiatives, 30 have been fully implemented, 44 are underway and 14 are set to begin briefly. These milestones emphasize the judiciary’s obligation to modernize its institutional framework and strengthen the supply of services to the public.
Chief Justice also reviewed statistics on the disposal of case, categorization of cases, IT integration, financial management and audit mechanisms. He expressed the satisfaction that the speed of disposal of the case has surpassed a new case institution, emphasizing that auditing and financial discipline are important to ensure transparency. He ordered all departments to accelerate in pending tasks prior to the next review meeting, and emphasized that sustained progress is crucial to maintaining public confidence in the judiciary.
By confirming the Supreme Court’s dedication to a dispute -focused approach, Chief Justice observed that timely and effective justice is not only a constitutional mandate but also a moral responsibility.
He also praised contributions from officers and technical experts. He repeated the judiciary’s decision to promote innovation, including and cooperation on building a legal system that is transparent, modern and fair.
