Timothy Busfield comes forward after being exposed to vile allegations

Timothy Busfield, whose whereabouts were not yet known, has surrendered to police.

“Tim voluntarily appeared before New Mexico authorities after traveling across the country to confront these false and deeply troubling allegations,” his attorney, Stanton “Larry” Stein, said in a statement obtained by People magazine.

Earlier on January 13, the actor and director turned himself in to the Metro Detention Center, according to Gilbert Gallegos, director of communications for the Albuquerque Police Department.

Busfield, Melissa Gilbert’s husband, faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct with two minor boys and one count of child abuse.

According to warrants, the alleged victims met twin boys Busfield at the shoot Fox series, The cleaning ladyafter Busfield joined as a director in season 2 (which aired in 2022).

“He is innocent and is determined to clear his name,” Stein continued. “As reflected in the criminal complaint, after her son was terminated from the show, the boy’s mother vowed to ‘get her revenge on Timothy Busfield.’

Busfield’s attorney also provided the outlet with a statement from Christina McGovern, the independent outside investigator retained by Warner Bros. Television to investigate allegations of misconduct.

“I conducted an independent and thorough investigation of all allegations known to the studio at the time,” McGovern’s statement read.

“Warner Bros. gave me full authority regarding my investigation. Based on what was alleged and all evidence collected, including multiple witness statements, I found no corroborating evidence that Mr. Busfield engaged in inappropriate behavior or that he was ever alone with the twins on set.”

“The allegations being made against Tim are completely false and we will fight this to the end until the truth prevails,” Stein added.

Earlier, Busfield denied all the allegations against him according to a video obtained by TMZ. The actor stated in the video that he “didn’t do anything wrong.”

“Hey everyone, this is Tim,” the video began. “I’m sure most of you who are watching this know that I was ordered to come to Albuquerque – I’m here now. I got a call Friday night, I had to get a lawyer. Saturday I got in the car, drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I’m going to confront these lies. They’re terrible.”

“They’re all lies and I didn’t do anything to those little boys and I’m going to fight that,” Busfield continued. “I’m going to fight it with a great team and I’m going to be exonerated, I know I am, because it’s all so wrong and all lies.”

“So hang in there and hopefully I’ll be out and back to work soon,” Busfield concluded. “I love everyone for supporting me, thank you.”
