Unihertz has announced a Kickstarter campaign for his upcoming robust smartphone, Titan 2.
In a 16-second ad released by Unihertz, the company said: “We’re getting ready for our Kickstarter in June,” offers a first look at a device that feels both familiar and ambitious.
The ad reveals Titan 2 follows the original Uniherz Titan and Titan Slim and continues the brand’s focus on sturdy smartphones with physical QWERTY keyboards.
With its square screen and hardwaretaster, Titan 2 clearly repeats the Blackberry era, where such designs were synonymous with business productivity and communication.
The new model seems to be a wider, flat-edge version of Titan Slim that lacks the curved top and bundle design found on the original titanium.
Although detailed specifications remain scarce, Unihertz confirmed to Techradar Pro That the commercial version of Titan 2 will offer a significant 512 GB of internal storage.
This marks a significant upgrade from previous iterations, especially 2019 Unihertz Titan, which was sent with 128 GB of storage, 6 GB of RAM and a Medatek Helio P60 processor.
The original Titan was remarkable for its 4.5-inch 1440×1440 Display, Global LTE support, NFC capacity and 6,000 mAh battery, all packed in a voluminous 30 g chassis with IP67 water and dust resistance.
Titan and Titan Slim were never aimed at mainstream users. Instead, they targeted those seeking something unconventional.
Titan 2 now seems to be ready to build on this lineage with greater storage and a refreshed design, while it remains firmly rooted in the company’s niche aesthetic and utilitarian philosophy.
This business smartphone doesn’t seem to be a competitor to mass market dominance. However, its physical QWERTY keyboard could appeal to professionals who appreciate tactile input into communication-heavy workflows.
That said, this device is undeniably a niche product and physical keyboards have long fallen out of fashion.
Titan 2 will have to prove that nostalgia and robust durability can exist along with modern expectations, otherwise it will remain a niche offering.
