Tommy Devito not only moves teams in the NFL, he also has to move out of his childhood home.

New England Patriots claimed Devito from exceptions after New York Giants cut him ahead of the 2025 season.

The 27-year-old was not only a fan favorite for its local New Jersey roots, but it also came out that the quarterback never moved out of his parents’ home in Cedar Grove-Kun a few minutes away from Metlife Stadium.

But the man who has been nicknamed “Tommy Cutlets” is not on his way to New England without some of his favorite things from home, especially the Italian food from his mother.

“There will be frozen chops that fill the freezer, she wants to make sure he has all his homemade sauces and all the other good things too,” Devito’s agent, Sean Stellato, told People’s Skyler Caruso.

Stellato responded to his client being waived when Giants held Quarterbacks Russell Wilson, their week 1-starter, Jameis Winston and first round Pick Jaxson Dart.

“Tommy was such a tough competitor and obviously loving his hometown team, I think it was definitely disappointing,” he said. “He obviously loved the opportunity to play for his favorite team.”

But as Stellato knows, the NFL’s business does not always ensure that a player stays with a team, even if it is the team that Devito grew up rooting.

“He’s ready to make the transition,” Stellato said. “He looks forward to the opportunity and challenges ahead of him to now be a member of New England Patriots.”

The Patriots already have a franchise quarterback in place under the new head coach Mike Vabel, as Drake Maye is expected to take a leap in his second season after a solid foundation was built in his Rookie campaign despite the team’s 4-13 record in 2024.

Behind Maye is Joshua Dobbs, Journeyman -Quarterback, who has his own nickname as Devito. “Passtronaut” was the moniker given to the Tennessee product that studied aerospace technique in college.

Dobbs is expected to be Mayes Backup throughout the season, but as Devito knows too well, circumstances such as injuries could get his number disconnected at some point.

Devito’s fame in New York came in 2023 when he started six games after Daniel Jones was lost for the season after an ACL tower. He went 3-3 over this period and completed 64% of his passports in 1,101 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

Devito was also called for last season after Giants moved on from Jones in the middle of the season, but he did not go well in his two starts before Drew Lock took over. Although he finished 70% of his passports, Devito threw only 257 yards without touchdowns.

However, Devito shone during the time he played this trouble in a crowded quarterback room. Since Dart was a first round of picking and shining in his own right, it would always be a matter of Winston or Devito if Giants would wear three quarterbacks.

Devito made it for a tough decision after walking 30-of-38 this trouble in 323 yards with four touchdown passes and an eavesdropping.

Giants ended up moving on and the patriots were quick to snap him up and put him on the active list to start the season.
