- Ring is rolling out a new feature that helps prevent duplicate messages
- AI Single Alert ensures that you are notified of a specific event only once
- It is available for all existing doorbells and security cameras
Have you ever been annoyed by too many notifications from your video doorbell or home security camera? Ring has just launched a solution that uses AI to condense related alerts together so you only receive a single message when an event occurs.
Back in June, Ring launched Ring Video Descriptions, which uses AI to identify what triggered your doorbell or camera and describes it using text, so you can see what’s happening at a glance. If you know what’s going on and expected it, you can dismiss the notification without having to watch the recording.
These notifications are fine for something brief like someone arriving at the door or someone strolling by a window, but it’s not ideal for situations like your kids playing in the garden or a gardener trimming a hedge, which might trigger your camera multiple times.
AI Single Alert takes things a step further by analyzing video descriptions that are generated and grouping those that are very similar to each other so that you are not disturbed unnecessarily.
Knock, knock…
AI Single Alert should work much better than Apple Intelligence summaries, which used to interpret multiple alerts from the Ring app as multiple people waiting at the front door.
“When I first installed the beta, maintenance worked on my apartment for a few hours going in and out, I gasped when I looked at my phone near the end of the day and it said ’47 people are at your front door,'” wrote one Reddit user. shortly after Apple Intelligence Summaries rolled out.
Apple Intelligence made me think I was going to be sprung from an intervention when I just walked by my front door a couple of times. from r/iphone
AI Single Alert is compatible with all existing Ring doorbells and cameras. It rolled out in the US last month and is now available to Ring Premium subscribers in the UK.
