While the experts are debating whether the NFL Draft Prospect Travis Hunter should be deployed as a full-time offensive or defensive player, the former Colorado star considers himself a two-way player.
“Have some meetings at the recipient. Cambining some meetings at DB. Then still up in the air,” Hunter replied to questions at the NFL scout of playing significant snaps on offense and defense in the pros.
“They say, ‘No one has ever done it, for right, as I do,’ but I’m saying them, ‘I’m just different.'”

Hunter played broad recipient and cornerback in Jackson State and Colorado under the main coach Deion Sanders. While Hunter is expected to be a top 10 draft election, it remains unclear whether the team that chooses him will primarily see him as a one -way player.
Why two-way Star Travis Hunter can and should play both ways in NFL
Hunter excelled on both sides of the ball in the college rows and played more than 700 snaps on offense and defense. He was named the winner of Heisman Trophy from 2024 in December.
“I do a lot of treatment,” Hunter added on Thursday. “People don’t see that part. What I do for my body to make sure I’m 100% every game. I feel like no one has done it. I know I can do it. I did it at university level where you really get breaks. There are a lot more breaks in the NFL.”

He ended last season with a career high 1,258 receiving yards and was credited with four interceptions as a defensive back. These numbers contributed to Hunter who earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Honors. He was also the recipient of Fred Biletnikoff Award as the season’s top college football recipient.
Hunter has not participated in exercises in this week’s combine, but he confirmed that he has interviewed with teams.

Two-way NFL players have been a rarity. Chuck Bednarik was the league’s last two-way athlete full time. Bednarik was a linebacker and offensive lineman for Philadelphia Eagles from 1949-62.
Sammy Baugh and Don Hutson are also remarkable former two -way stars. Baugh was a quarterback, defensive back and punter. Huston spent his entire NFL career with Green Bay Packers, where he played the recipient and security. Later he had a stint as a Packer’s assistant coach.
The NFL draft is scheduled for April 24 to April 26 in Green Bay.
