Rawalpindi:
Top military officials from Bangladesh and the Maldives called for Chief of Army Staff (Coas) General Syed Asim Munir on Friday and discussed the prevailing regional security environment and the possibilities of improved defense and security cooperation, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
Those called for Gen ASIM, included Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of Bangladesh Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of the Maldives Armed Forces General General Ibrahim Hilmy, Ispr, Medievingen of the military in separate press releases .
During the meeting between Gen Asim and Maj-Gen Hilmy, both sides expressed satisfaction over the sustained bonds of fraternity and friendship between Pakistan and the Maldives, emphasizing their common perspectives on important regional issues.
The two military leaders recognized their obligation to strengthen and revitalize bilateral ties in order to improve the developing security landscape and confirm their obligation to strengthen and revive bilateral ties in order to improve cooperation in areas of mutual interest. ISPR said that during this second visit to the high level of Bangladesh armed forces in the recent past, both dignitaries participated in discussions on issues of mutual interest, the ruling regional security environment and opportunities for improved bilateral defense and security cooperation.
Admiral Hassan also called on Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the chairman of the joint chief of staff of the staff committee (CJCSC). ISPR said their discussion was centered on developing regional environments and mutual strategic interests, including maritime cooperation.
Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza also met with Hungary’s vice testing minister Tamas Vargha. During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the importance of exploring new opportunities for mutually advantageous cooperation in defense and security domains between both countries, ISPR said.
