ARYNA Sabalenka, the world’s No. 1-ranked woman tennis player, held on for a narrow victory on Tuesday at the All England Club in London.
Sabalenka’s hard-fought victory over Laura Siegemund served the Belarusian tennis star a place in the Wimbledon semi-finals. While Sabalenka seemed glad to move on to the next round of the prestigious tournament, after the quarterfinal match, she asked the question of how her words were interpreted.

Sabalenka was asked to seem to describe his opponent as “annoying.”
“You had said before the hand that Laura has an annoying game in a free way,” said a reporter.
Sabalenka quickly clarified and explained that Siegemund previously described his game as “annoying,” which suggested that it created a frustrating experience for those who competed against her.
“I didn’t say that,” replied the 27-year-old. “No, no no, I didn’t say that … They asked the question that she said she has an annoying game. I didn’t just say that to make it clear.”

“It’s not like it’s an annoying game. It’s a smart game,” Sabalenka said. “She really makes everyone work against her and goes into the fight against her, you know you have to work for each point.”

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a big server, if you’re a big hitter, you have to work. You have to run and have to win the victory. Honest, I just tried to focus on myself and make sure I didn’t give her that energy. I didn’t want her to see that I was annoyed or something of her, even if I was a little at some point.
