In a rare interview with New York TimesThe Grammy award-winning singer, who has largely been away from Spotlight, revealed that she is listening to new artists such as Charli XCX and Chappell Roan.

Explains that she does not prefer to use streaming services, Quick car Hitmaker said, “I don’t listen to as much as I used to do, and I might go out with myself now, or someone will call me a luddite, but I’m not streaming music.”

“I only buy music in physical shape. Artists get paid when you actually buy a CD or vinyl. It’s important to me,” the 61-year-old songstress added.

And although Chapman admitted that her choices can “limit” what she is listening to because “it’s a physical commitment to going out into the world and finding things,” she still does.

“I don’t know if I have anyone special to call out. The last Grammys, I thought it was pretty amazing, all the young women in all their variation doing their thing,” she said of the artists she listens to before she specifically mentioned Roan and Charli XCX.

“It’s not music that I wanted to make, but I appreciate that we are in this moment when there is a path for artists like that, and they may even be successful,” concluded Tracy Chapman.
