Karachi:
The Karachi Traffic Police have completed traffic events for Eid Milad-Un-Nabi (PBUH) Processions planned for Saturday.
Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPS) will personally monitor the movement and security of processions in their respective districts, spokesman for Karachi Traffic Police said.
To ensure smooth traffic flow over the city, a detailed redirection and alternative route plan have been chalked out. Citizens have been encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid disadvantages.
Two major processions differ from Memon Masjid in the afternoon. The first procession will leave at. 14:30 and ends in Aram Bagh Masjid. The second procession begins at 1 p.m. 15 and ends at Nishtar Park.
Traffic derivations and alternative routes
For District Central, commuters coming from Nazimabad can use Lasbela Chowk via Nishtar Road and Garden to reach their destination. Those who come from Liaquatabad can use Teen Hatti, then turn towards Lasbela Chowk and proceed to Central Prison (Martin Road).
Traffic from Hasan Square to Peoples Chowrangi will be redirected via Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal (Shahrah-E-Quaide) and prison flight and eventually reaches Teen Hatti to Nishtar Road (Lasbela).
The Traffic Police spokesman said no traffic will be allowed from Guru Mandir to Numaish in any case.
In District East, vehicles running from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Numaish via Noorani Kebab, must turn at Society Light Signal and use Kashmir Road to continue towards their destination.
Commuters from Central Jail Gate (Jamshed Road) on their way to Guru Mandir and Ma Jinnah Road will be redirected via Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
In District South, vehicles from Garden Zoological Area to Ma Jinnah Road will be redirected via Anklesaria Hospital, which turns either to Yellow Plaza or left against Coast Guard/Holy Family Hospital.
Traffic from Lucky Star to Ma Jinnah Road via Empress Market will be redirected on Saddar Dawakhana against Peoples Chowrangi.
Traffic intended to reach Burns Road will be sent via Abdullah Haroon Road to Mr. Kiyani Chowk. However, no traffic is allowed from Mr. Kiyani Chowk to Court Road (Kabootar Chowrangi). All such vehicles will be redirected via Arts Council to Pakistan Chowk.
Similarly, traffic is redirected from Shahrah-E-Liaquat to Burns Road by Aram Bagh Light Signal against Pakistan Chowk.
Limitations for heavy, commercial vehicles
Tongue and commercial vehicles running from Super Highway or Gulberg to Ma Jinnah Road will be redirected by Liaquatabad No. 10 against Nazimabad No. 2 Chowrangi, then via Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road and Sher Shah to Mauripur. The route must be used for both entry and return.
National Highway vehicles, intended to enter the city, need to use Shahrah-E-Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hasan Square, Liaquatabad No. 10, and follow the same Sher Shah-Mauripur route.
No vehicle, regardless of size, access Guru Mandir Chowk or the processional route. All such traffic will be redirected to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
Access and parking restrictions
Entry on Ma Jinnah Road is strictly prohibited for all vehicles, except those with special windshield stickers issued for participation in processions.
Parking on the procession route is completely prohibited. The traffic police have requested citizens to cooperate and use designated alternative routes to reach their destinations without delay.
Public advice and guides
The traffic police have appealed to the public to remain informed and avoid affected routes under Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) Processions to prevent disturbances and delays.
