Karachi:

Rejected employees of Pakistan Steel Mills have staged a sit-in-protest on bin Qasim railway station tracks, led to the complete suspension of train services to and from the city, causing passengers serious disadvantage.

The protesters who held banners in their hands lifted strong slogans.

Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Karachi Railways stated that there is a huge rush of passengers from Tezgam Express, Karachi Express and other trains at Karachi Cantt Station, as many trains have been delayed for hours where passengers require a refund of ticket money. Railway administration announced that ticket money will be repaid to passengers of trains delayed by more than six hours.

Rehman Baba Express was stopped at Landhi and Pakistan Express was stopped at Drigh Road Station, while passengers from Millat Express and Green Line were forced to leave on foot from Pipri Station. Railway Administration has been trying to end sit-in since morning to no avail.

The Federal Minister of Railways contacted CM and requested his cooperation to clear the tracks and said that train operations have been suspended for several hours.

Train traffic was restored after unions reached an agreement.
