Trans Athlet Controvers: Tennis legend takes string in California GoV over politics

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova criticized California’s head of government Gavin Newsom and State’s policies regarding transgender participation in girls’ sports when another question seemed to arise.

A triple jumming record was broken in California Girls High School Track and Field last weekend, triggering the latest debate on trans-clad in girls’ sports. The question came when California bowed President Donald Trump’s executive order and kept biological men out of girls and women’s sports.

Navratilova, who has advanced fairness in women’s sports, took a shot at Newsom on X.

“Seems fair to me, right?

California Interscholastic Federation was among the high school management bodies in the United States that advertised plans to continue to allow Trans athletes to compete in women’s sports despite Trump’s order and NCAA’s own political change – which has also been criticized.

Minnesota and Maine also joined California’s attitude.

Attorney General Pam Bondi warned these states earlier this week to comply with Trump’s order or face litigation.

“This Ministry of Justice will have responsible states and state units that violate federal legislation,” Bondi wrote in a letter obtained first by Pakinomist. “In fact, we’ve already started doing it.”

Bondi referred to the Ministry of Justice’s steps to Sue Illinois and New York earlier in February to tread federal immigration laws.

“We are also ready to sue states and state units that defy federal anti -discrimination laws,” Bondi wrote.

Trump instructed the Ministry of Justice and the Education Department to prioritize enforcement measures against athletic associations that deny girls an equal opportunity to participate in sports and athletic events by demanding that they compete against boys. Trump threatened to withhold federal funding from Maine schools over its genital participation policy, which triggered a spate with head of government Janet Mills last week.

In California, Bondi said the state “should be aware of” in the middle of the Department of Education’s Title IX study of California Interscholastic Federation.

“If the Department of Education Survey shows that the Federation is actually denying girls an equal opportunity to participate in sports and athletic events by demanding that they compete against boys, the Ministry of Justice is ready to take all appropriate steps to enforce federal law,” Bondi wrote.

Bondi said the Ministry of Justice “only wants states and state units to comply with the law.”

“And federal law requires giving girls an equal opportunity to participate in sports and athletic events by ensuring that girls only need to compete with other girls, not with boys,” Bondi wrote.

Bondi told Pakinomist that “this Ministry of Justice will defend women and not tolerate state officials who ignore federal law.”

“We will take advantage of any legal option needed to ensure state compliance with federal law and President Trump’s executive order that protects women’s sports,” she said.
