A video of women’s disk golf player Abigail Wilson, who refused to meet a transsexual opponent, became viral on Friday, which received praise from women’s sports rights activists.
The incident came just days after Pakinomist Digital reported that Women’s Fencer Stephanie Turner had refused to meet a transsexual opponent at a competition in Maryland, which received global attention and criticism against the fence of the United States.
Wilson’s rejection of meeting the Trans athlete came on Friday in Nashville, Tennessee, at the MVP Music City Open, an event officially sanctioned by the Disc Golf Pro Tour and Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). When her name was called to step up to compete, she went up to the tee box, wound up her throw and threw her arm forward, but did not relax the disk. Then she turned around to explain why.
“Women must be protected in our department!” Wilson shouted to the crowd. “This is unfair. I refuse to play!”
Wilson then took his belongings and went away.

Later on Friday, she shared the recordings of her protest in an Instagram video.
“Today I Refused to Play At The Music City Open. Female’s Deserve To Have Their Gender Protected Division Be Protected. This Is Unfair. I HAVE WORKED So Hard to get to this point to play on the dgpt, but the sacrifice of my career and my hard work is worn it if it mean in can a difference for other Women, Daughters, Nieces, and the Future of Our Sport.
Who is Stephanie Turner? Women’s fences that kneeled to protest against opponent and ignited global consciousness
“I took this stand today because I had anxiety to play with the open trans player on tour because of the planned protests for this year and the threats of violence at the event last year. After talking to a member of the DGPT staff yesterday, they made it clear that they would not be willing to change me to a previous tee time when they concerned my fear of security.
“They assured me that there would be bag checks, police and security at the event. When I arrived this morning there was no security or police presence, I also had access, even though I didn’t have my credentials. There were zero security rules.”
Wilson added that she believes the decision will end her disk golf career.
“Today I probably ended my career and it’s okay because this is bigger than me.”

Professional Disc Golf Association Rules say Translucing players awarded to male at birth are eligible to compete in the female category after undergoing continuous hormone therapy for at least 24 months and maintaining a particular testosterone level, verified through several blood tests. Eligibility can also be obtained through gender affirming surgery with the same requirements for testosterone levels after surgery.

The Trans -Competent who got Wilson’s protest, Natalie Ryan, got first attention in September 2022 after winning women’s division Top Five Women Classified Disk Golfers.
Ryan identifies himself as an open transgender, according to the athlete’s Instagram page.
The Music City Open marked Ryan’s return to the sport after recovering from “very invasive surgery”, the athlete revealed in a post on Thursday.
By 2024 Music City Open, the event had to be paused after a terrorist threat targeted at Ryan, the organization released in a statement.
“A call came into the event point that there would be a threat of potential violence against a competitor in this weekend’s tournament,” says a tour declaration.
