Champlin Park’s school district made a statement to Pakinomist Digital, which defended the decision to allow the athlete to compete for the softball team.

“Throughout the season, and as the rebels move on to the state tournament, it is important to note that all students who participate in Champlin Park Softball team are eligible to compete in accordance with Minnesota State High School League rules and applicable state law. “In addition, the district is named in an active trial that limits what information can be shared.”

The pitcher will now lead Champlin Park into the state tournament next week for the first time in program history.

The lawsuit against Minnesota was filed by the Religious Law Firm Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). The defendants are court lawyer Keith Ellison, Minnesota State High School League -Director Erich Martens, Minnesota Department of Human Rights Commissioner Rebecca Lucero and Minnesota Commissions of Education Willie Jett.

“Minnesota fails its female athletes. The state puts men’s rights ahead of women and tells girls that their hard work may never be enough to win and that they do not deserve justice and security,” Alliance defending freedom lawyer Suzanne Beecher told Pakinomist Digital.

“By sacrificing protection for female athletes, Minnesota fails to offer girls equal treatment and opportunities and violate title IX’s provisions. Our client, female athletes United, have the right to stand up to their members by challenging the state’s discriminatory policy and spokesman for genuine equality in sports.”

Ellison’s office has responded to the trial in a statement to Pakinomist Digital.

“In addition to getting training and the fun of competition, sports play with so many benefits for young people. You build friendships that can last life, you will learn how to work as part of a team and you feel that you belong,” the statement reads. “I think it’s wrong to appoint a group of students who are already facing higher levels of bullying and harassment, and telling these children that they can’t be on the team because of who they are. I will continue to defend all students’ rights to play sports with their friends and peers.”

Ellison is also suing President Donald Trump and the Department of Justice to ensure that transking athletes can continue to participate in girls’ sports in the state.

After Trump signed “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order, Minnesota State High School League advertised that Would defy federal law by allowing transking athletes to continue playing in women’s sports. Ellison then claimed at a press conference on April 22 that he received notice from the Department of Justice, who threatened litigation if the state did not follow the executive order, so AG decided to sue first.

The White House later responded to the trial and condemned Ellison for having taken lawsuits to enable trans -cluttering.

“Why should an adult man sue the Trump administration to allow other biological men to participate in women’s sports? This is creepy and anti-woman,” spokesman for the White House Harrison Fields told Pakinomist Digital.

Minnesota’s state legislator failed to adopt the “preservative girls’ sports law” in early March, which would have stated that “only female students can participate in an athletic team or sport at the high school level that an educational institution has limited to women and girls.”
