Carachi carriers have launched a protest in response to a number of incidents involving heavy vehicles set on fire, reported Express News.
Protesters blocked major city input points, including roads leading to Port Qasim, Hub Chowki and New Sabzi Mandi, leading to disruptions in traffic, carriers have demanded improved government security measures to prevent further events.
The ULISTER follows a deadly accident earlier in the day when a motorcyclist, 30-year-old Sadiq Ahmed, was killed in a collision with a dumping car near the Musharraf colony in Hawks Bay. The dumping driver fled from the stage, but police have taken the vehicle in custody and are searching for the driver.
Meanwhile, two more vehicles – a water tanker and a trailer – were set on fire by unidentified individuals in separate events, raising the total number of vehicles imprisoned since the morning to four. Police have initiated investigations of fires and authorities are working to tackle the growing concerns about public security.
Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjhar is responding to fire events
The Minister of Interior Minister, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjhar, has taken rapid action after several incidents in Karachi, where heavy vehicles, including dumpers and tankers, were set on fire. The Minister has called for a detailed report from the extra IG police in Karachi to investigate these events.
In a statement, Minister Lanjhar emphasized that such illegal acts will not be tolerated, confirming that no individual will be allowed to take the law in their own hands. He further added that the protection of citizens’ property is the responsibility of the government and such actions will be thoroughly investigated.
The Minister of the Interior also assured that the government is implementing strong measures to limit traffic accidents, with a high -level committee to ensure the strict enforcement of traffic laws. He urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic police and comply with the traffic rules and emphasize that following the law would contribute to a prosperous and peaceful province.
Lanjhar emphasized that the enforcement of laws is a key factor in the development of any society that draws comparisons with advanced nations, where law and order are the basis of their growth.
He also ordered the police to closely monitor unrest and ensure the consistent application of the law throughout the city.
