Trey Hendrickson has spent his last four NFL seasons with Cincinnati Bengals. Star Pass Rusher has only one year left on his contract with Bengals and recently requested permission to apply for a trade.
Despite the trade request, Hendrickson hopes to stay in Cincinnati.

During the NFL scouting combination in Indianapolis, Bengal’s director of staff Duke Tobin suggested that the team and Hendrickson’s agent made progress with a new contract for Star Defensive End.

However, Bengal’s Executive Vice President Katie Blackburn’s recent comments at the league’s annual meeting did not give credibility to Tobin’s remarks. Blackburn’s words caused a frustrated Hendrickson to call the organization a apparent lack of communication in recent months.
“It was a little disappointing because communication has been bad in the last few months,” Hendrickson told “The Pat McAfee Show” with reference to Blackburn’s comments.

“It’s something that I hold a lot with. They haven’t communicated directly with my agent. It’s been something that has been a little frustrating.”

Hendrickson added that conversations with Bengals have largely been “here and there.”
Hendrickson finished each of the last two seasons with 17½ sacks. His estimated basal wage of just over $ 15 million for next season fades in comparison with his colleagues. Despite the latest event, Hendrickson said the “communication line” remains open at his end.
“They are more than welcome to call me,” Hendrickson said. “I have had my cell phone, the same mobile phone number since high school. Open communication line is always open with me and my agent. So if they have something they would like to discuss, we have been nothing more than willing to listen.”
Hendrickson made it clear that he was looking for a long -term contract, not a short -term deal.
“We have no desire to be paid or know, first in line,” he said. “I don’t want to go into all the details, but like there are things that I am willing to do and willing not to bay on. I don’t think I will play for incentives that will be out of my control. I don’t think I will play (on a) short -lived contract you know?”
