A senior official told Fox Business that the administration has paused $ 175 million in federal funding. This did not take into account UPENN’s overall federal funding, which the university previously reported last year was about $ 1 billion.

The break is not a direct result of the investigation of Upenn, which the Institute of Education announced a day after the president signed “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order on February 5th.

GOP -legislator urges Trump to draw financing to school accused of causing girls to change in front of trans students
Upenn first made headlines during the 2022 season when Lia Thomas, a transient student athlete, was put on the women’s team and would eventually continue to win a national championship title in the women’s 500-yard freestyle.
Thomas would also tie with earlier Kentucky Swims Riley Gaines For the fifth place of 200-yard freestyle that year, though it would be Thomas who received the trophy exclusively during the awards ceremony.
Thomas’ participation triggered a national debate about girls and women’s sports that have seen several states in violation of federal law during the Trump administration.
