As Maine continues to defy President Donald Trump’s executive order to ban trans athletes from girls’ sports, the administration has increased its focus on the state as one of the most important battlefields over the subject.

Earlier this week, Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR) officially announced that it found the Maine Department of Education, Maine Principals’ Association and Greely High School in violation of Title IX for its continued enabling of trans -clutter in girls’ sports.

HHS ‘first announcement that the units had violated title IX also warned that the state had 10 days to direct its policies through a signed agreement or risk reference to the US Ministry of Justice for appropriate action.

The Trump administration has recently done well with its promise to reduce federal funding to enforce the executive order. On Wednesday, Fox Business reported that $ 175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania has been paused by its previous inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports.

Now, Archeval’s warning is coming one day after Maine Principal’s Association issued a response to the Trump administration’s statement that the state had violated title IX.

“The alleged violation is due to MPA’s policy, which is a direct result of Maine Human Rights Acts mandate that athletes are allowed to participate in the teams that are in line with their gender identity. MPA’s policy is in line with the Maine State Law,” the answer reads.
