President Donald Trump celebrated Washington Commanders’ agreement with the District of Columbia government officials to take over the old RFK Stadium Monday.
Commanders Team -Owner Josh Harris, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the agreement at a press conference. The end of the agreement is awaiting approval of DC City Council.

“I’m excited to announce that the Washington football team is returning to our country’s capital! The new stadium agreement is a huge win for Washington, DC, and for the team’s incredible fanbase,” he wrote in a post about truth in truth.
“It will also increase economic development, create more jobs and hopefully lead to less crime in the area. We are doing Washington, DC, great again, one step at a time!”
Commander released a nostalgic video showing the old days of the franchise, formerly known as Washington Redskins, who played in Washington, DC Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Theismann, the video told.
“Time is now,” Theismann said. “Let’s bring Washington back to DC”

The franchise played at RFK Stadium from 1961 to 1996, before moving to Landover, Maryland, at the faculty, now known as Northwest Stadium. Team owner Josh Harris had considered different places for a new stadium since bought the team from Daniel Snyder.
Harris said in August that 2030 was a “reasonable goal” for a new stadium. He also expressed hope of a future NFL draft that took place in the National Mall between US Capitol and Lincoln Memorial.
The project is expected to cost around $ 4 billion in total. Commander will contribute $ 2.7 billion, with the city investing around $ 1.1 billion over the next eight years for the stadium, housing, green space and sports pex and 170 hectares of land near the Anacostia River.
The stadium is expected to accommodate about 65,000 people and have a roof to house events all year round.

“This country has been destroyed and under -utilized too long,” Bowser said. “What our agreement with Washington Commanders provides is the fastest and shortest route to develop RFK Campus and not only deliver sports and entertainment, but deliver housing, jobs, recreation and financial development.”
