Some of President Donald Trump’s toughest critics shared the limelight with the president when he saw the United States open in New York City on Sunday afternoon.

Bruce Springsteen, Lindsey Vonn, Anna Wintour and Stephen Curry were just some of the athletes and celebrities who were in the stands of Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens. They have been some of the greatest critics of the president outside the policy world.

Springsteen, while over in Europe in June, called Trump and his administration “treacherous.” He urged his fans in Germany to stand up with him against “authoritarianism.”

“The America that I love is America that I sung to you about, it’s been a lighthouse for hope and freedom for 250 years is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treacherous administration,” he told the audience under his set.

Vonn, who won a gold medal in the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, said in 2017 that she would not represent Trump at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics in South Korea.

“Well, I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president,” she said in 2017.

In January, she did a point to say she was not aware of American politics while competing in Italy.

“There is a lot going on in the United States and not all the positive,” she said when asked if he would see Trump’s initiation. “So I’m just excited to have a break.

“That’s what I love about ski -Racing – that when I’m in the starter gate, that’s all I think about,” Vonn added. “I don’t think about the world and my life, and whatever else is going on. I’m just thinking about going fast and I like that simplicity.”

Anna Wintour, former editor -in -chief of Vogue, has had a bigger feud with Trump in the last few years. She criticized his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Wintour seemed to be reluctant to have First Lady Melania Trump on the front of the fashion magazine after her husband became president.

Curry had a high -profile social media sweep with Trump. Curry suggested he would not go to the White House to celebrate the NBA Championship 2016-17. Trump withdrew the invitation.

The Golden State Warriors star went on in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2022.

“Most of his rhetoric – before he was president, over his four years, and even now, if he tries to run again – has a tone of split that doesn’t have a place in our country,” Curry told the magazine. “As severe and loud as the threat is on him or the one who otherwise drives to the office, there is a similar urgent and a volume needed on the other side.”

Trump went into the stadium less than an hour before the match started. He was greeted with cheer when originally entered the room. During the national anthem, the president received some applause and boos as he appeared on video boards.
