Trump holds ‘long and very productive’ calls with Putin

Washington: US President Donald Trump said he had a “long -lasting and very productive” call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, where they agreed to “immediately” start negotiations to end the Ukraine war.

Trump said of truth social that both leaders had expanded invitations to “visit each other’s nations” while the American leader said he would call the Ukrainian President Volodymy Zelensky “right now” to inform him of the call.

Putin also told Trump that a “long-term settlement” of the Ukraine conflict triggered by Russia’s 2022 invasion of his pro-Western neighbor was possible and invited the US president to Moscow, the Kremlin said.
