President Donald Trump suggested he would work to get the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches withdrawn from Boston, whose city mayor, Michelle Wu, did not slow down crime recently included a violent street takeover that targets police.
Trump made the proposal while taking questions from the media during Tuesday’s meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei in the White House on Tuesday, threatening to call FIFA president Gianni Infantino to get the games moved to cities to cooperate with reference to security concerns.
“We can take them away. I love the people of Boston. And I know the games are sold out, but the mayor is not good. There is worse than her. At least she is intelligent, you know some are extremely low IQ. They are bothering me more. She is intelligent but she is radical left,” Trump said.

“The answer is yes, if someone does a bad job, and if I feel there are uncertain conditions, I would call Gianni, the leader of FIFA, who is phenomenal and I would say ‘let’s move it to another place,’ and he would do it. He wouldn’t love to do it, but he would do it, very easily he would do it.
Trump’s comments come after a group of people took over one of the city’s streets in a violent incident this week. The president of a trade union representing Boston Police officers said people who participated in a recent street takeover in the city were “hell-bent” to attack law enforcement authorities.
According to the Boston Police Department, more than 100 people were involved in the acquisition involving Gade Racing just after 7 p.m. 2 on October 5th. Officers found that people who were trying to attack police cruisers with fireworks, cones, poles and other objects.
One policy trees were destroyed by flames and had to be dragged away from the area, officials said.
Boston is currently ready to host seven matches when the World Cup arrives in North America next summer. Slate includes five group games, a round of 32 luminaire and first quarterfinals on July 9.

Trump added that he would also consider pulling 2028 summer -ol out of Los Angeles for similar reasons.
“I could say the same for the Olympics,” he said. “If I thought LA wouldn’t be prepared properly, I would move it to another place.”
Wu has accused the Trump Administration of being a party that “does not follow the law.”

“At a time when this federal administration is already causing so much fear and harm in our society, these threats are serious and companionship,” Wu said in August.
The comments came after the Trump administration warned that it could sue or cut federal funds if cities refused to cooperate on enforcement of immigration.
