- A YouTuber signed up for Trump Mobile and documented the process
- He fought for several days to make it work
- What he found out the plan, especially its limitations may surprise you
It will be the months before the Trump Mobile T1 phone which apparently is not Made in America arrives in the United States, but Trump Mobile Cellular Service Plan is live today. A brave YouTuber has signed up and learned some interesting and at least one, about things.
The good news is that the plan that seems to be an MVNO built on the T-Mobile network eventually works much like any other 5G mobile plan.
For $ 47.45 (an award referring to President Trump’s two terms), YouTuber Stetson Doggett 5G connection with flaming fast downloads and decent uploads, group messages, RCS support and a small “Trump 5” label at the top of the iPhone, which he added to the plan.
Now for the bad news.
Doggett took almost a week to get on the plan. He signed up, but the site and service seemed almost unprepared for him. During his test, the Trump Mobile site repeatedly changed. In fact, it almost seems that the rewritten place based on questions that Doggett had; Elements were moved, typing errors appeared, QR codes failed, and biting, long instructions arrived for new users.
Even after Doiggett got the plan to work, the phone number he tried to transfer via Esim disappeared to the plan and he got a new one without his input.
When Doggett made the system work, things moved smoother and he was able to run more speed tests and send and receive text messages. He had to dig into settings to enable RCS messages.
When the data is running dry
Look at
Trump Mobile promises 20 GB of high -speed data at $ 47.45 a month price, but doesn’t say what happens after 20 GB. However, Doggett found in his test that Trump Mobile does not throw speeds after the first 20 GB. Instead, it seems to turn off the service. After intentionally burning through his 20GB allocation, Doggett found that he could not run any speed test or access sites.
It’s not the kind of surprise someone wants. At least Trump Mobile has to send a warning message that you are either running out of data or that you have done it and tell you what to do next. No one wants to run out of data in the middle of the month and then have to get on that phone with Trump Mobile to try to secure more GBS data.
When we talk about, Doggett spent a lot of time with Trump Mobile Support, which sounded helpful, but not always aware of, for example, supported features.
So, on the one hand, Trump Mobile is a pretty straightforward mobile provider who uses one of the large networks to provide the basis for its cellular service. On the other hand, it still sounds a bit like a seat-of-your-pants operation, one who is about to find out things on the go.
If you are desperate after getting on the plan, you may be able to wait until all kinks are prepared, or at least until they get the T1 phone built (somewhere) and shipping here in the US to the full Trump mobile experience.
