US President Donald Trump has again criticized Britain’s military strength and dismissed its two aircraft carriers.
Trump compared two aircraft named “HMS Queen Elizabeth” and “HMS Prince of Wales” to “toys” compared to their American counterparts.
The comment was made as Trump addressed a cabinet meeting at the White House on Thursday, March 26, reviving his complaints about NATO allies failing to offer enough support during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
He also claimed that Britain had offered to send its carriers to the Middle East, but only after the fighting had ended.
Trump said: “We got Britain to say ‘we’re sending,’ it’s been three weeks, ‘we’re sending our aircraft carrier,’ which by the way are not the best aircraft carriers.”
“They are toys compared to what we have,” he added.
The president also lashed out at NATO allies in general, accusing them of doing “absolutely nothing” to help the United States in the war.
Downing Street has already rejected the claim by President Trump that Britain had offered to deploy carriers, saying it was false.
The comments are the latest in a series of barbs from President Trump aimed at Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government.
