Trump praises Ohio State football team during the title ceremony in the White House

President Donald Trump stood on the podium on the White House lawn on Monday afternoon with a team of Ohio State Buckey’s footballers behind him to celebrate their national championship victory during the 2024 season.

The 47th President began his remarks by remembering how special January 20 was for everyone on stage – Buckeyes beat Notre Dame, who fought Irish hours after Trump ended his inauguration in our country’s capital.

“It turns out that January 20 was a great day for all of us. It’s true. It was a great day. I love that day. I will never forget that day,” Trump said.

Trump recognized all the present, including former Buckeyes head coach and current LT. Gov. Of Ohio Jim Tressel as well as other Ohio delegates.

Before Trump made sure to name the story that comes with the National Championship Trophy, sitting on a table next to a Buckeyes helmet and jersey while giving his speech before giving his speech that followed a certain praise for head coach Ryan day and several of his players.

“This was a historic year in college football,” Trump said. “Standing together today, these men are the first college football players in the story who can proudly call themselves 12-team playoff masters. It’s not easy. You’re the first.”

It certainly wasn’t easy for Buckeyes, especially after suffering some harsh losses in the regular season that Trump brought up. They fell to Oregon, a college -football game and Michigan, a team that they were expected to beat on their home ground, but couldn’t get his violation going.

“I shouldn’t say this. I actually said, ‘Should I leave this line out?’ And they said, ‘Sir, they want to hear it all,’ “Trump said. “The bad and the good, right? But many people counted you out after the losses against Oregon, which is a fantastic team, and it goes together north – we won’t talk about it. But you refused to let Buckeyes Nation down. You got better and better and harder and harder as the season went together.

“After a very strong regular season, but with adversity you held a closed doors, only players with players. This extraordinary group gathered together on a single wonderful vision: winning four straight playoff matches against the finest teams in college football. Of course you were able to do so.”

Trump continued to praise the work of quarterback Will Howard, his offensive line, ran on Quinshon Judkins and Treveyon Henderson, receiving Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith and more throughout his speech. He made sure to shake everyone’s hand along the way as he explained their results.

Vice President JD Vance, an Ohio State -Alun, said he was “so proud” to be with his buckeyes at the White House to celebrate a championship he is still waiting for late. Ted Cruz has to pay up.

Vance said he and Cruz, a Texas Longhorn’s supporter, made an effort on their team facing to earn a place in the national title game.

And even though it was all about Buckeyes Monday, Trump made sure to remind everyone of the lawn and those who saw at home how much he loves Ohio, especially after winning the state “with an landslide” during the November 2024 presidential election.

“The great state of Ohio. I love that state,” he said. “We won this state in a landslide! I love Ohio! We never let you down. I swear, I promise.”

To close the ceremony, Day brought up his team captains – Egbuka, Jack Sawyer and Cody Smith – to present Trump with a custom Buckeyes jersey with his name and the number 47 on the back.
