Trump promises to cut federal funding to Maine for not following Trans Athlet Ban

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will cut off federal funding to the state of Maine if it continues to defy his executive order that prevents trans athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.

“I heard men still playing in Maine,” Trump told a collection of Republican governors in Washington on Thursday.

“I hate telling you this but we won’t give them any federal money, they still say ‘We want men to play in women’s sports’ and I can’t believe they do it … so we ‘Will not give them any federal funding, no one at all until they clean it.

Trump’s executive order signed on February 5, instructed all federal agencies to review grants, programs and policies that do not comply , dignity and truth.

“Many sports -specific management bodies have no official position or requirements for transidentifying athletes. Others allow men to compete in female categories if these men reduce the testosterone in their bodies at certain levels or provide documentation of ‘sincerely held’ gender identity,” Trump’s executive order says. “These policies are unfair to female athletes and do not protect female security.”

Shortly after the order was signed, several states, including Maine, California, Minnesota and others, indicated primarily by Democrats that they would not comply with Trump.
