President Donald Trump said on Monday that US intervention prevented a “poor nuclear war” between Pakistan and India after the South Asian rivals agreed to a ceasefire following a series of clashes.

“We stopped a nuclear conflict. I think it could have been a bad nuclear war, millions of people could have been killed. So I’m very proud of it,” Trump told journalists in the White House.

Trump also said the United States is ready to help Pakistan and India in the wake of a ceasefire agreement that he says his administration helped broker.

Trade is a major reason why they stopped fighting, he said at an event in the White House.

His statement came after the South Asian nations agreed on the ceasefire of the United States on Sunday after the nuclear armed neighbors dealt with hours at night.

By taking its truth social wall praised Trump leaders in both countries for agreeing to stop the aggression.

“Although I am not even discussed, I will increase trade essentially with both of these big nations. In addition, I will work with both of you to see if … a solution can be reached to Kashmir,” Trump said in the post.

The fluid’s ceasefire came after Pakistan-armed forces launched a large-scale military action of a large-scale retention, named “Operation Bunyan-EM-Maroos” and targeted several Indian military strikes across multiple regions.

The strikes described by officials as “precise and proportionate” were performed in response to India’s continued aggression across the control line (LOC) and within Pakistan’s sovereignty.

This follows India’s unprovoked missile attacks on several Pakistani cities during the night of the 5th and 6th of May, which New Delhi claimed was aimed at “terrorist targets” in response to last month’s Pahagam attack in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

However, the strikes resulted in civilian losses in Pakistan, causing a strong reaction.
